British organist and conductor Alex Hodgkinson serves as Director of Music at St. Theresa Church, Trumbull, Connecticut.

Following an organ scholarship at Ely Cathedral, Alex read Music at Oxford University. There he was Organ Scholar of Keble College, spent a year as Acting Organ Scholar of New College, and directed the New Chamber Opera Studio.

Alex is passionate about musical education. He was successively Head of Academic Music at Repton School and Choirmaster at Marlborough College. With the Marlborough Choral Society, he conducted major works such as the Requiems of Mozart and Verdi, Handel’s Messiah, and Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius. Alex went on to become Director of Music at Christ’s Hospital, the UK’s foremost charitable foundation school. At CH, he led the large and flourishing Music Department, ran several choirs, oversaw the major rebuild of the Chapel organ, and developed an ongoing partnership with the English Chamber Orchestra.

Alex has featured on recordings and radio broadcasts as an organist and pianist, and has directed choral courses in the UK and China. In 2018, he co-founded the Hackney Choral Course, a free singing week for young people in North London. He is prizewinning Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and, in 2022, was awarded the Silver Medal of the Worshipful Company of Musicians.
