Welcome all area singers and choirs to this exciting choral rehearsal and performance with one of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) and American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) celebrated great composer, conductor, organist, preacher and teacher, Tom Trenney, Tom has been a featured performer at churches, colleges, and concert halls across the country including Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center, Seattle’s Benaroya Hall, Philadelphia’s Kauffman Center, Kennedy Center, and Carnegie Hall. His choral compositions are published by Augsburg Fortress, Beckenhorst Press, Choristers Guild, E.C. Schirmer/Galaxy, Morningstar, Musicspoke, Pavane, and G. Schirmer.
Our venue is the beautiful First Church Congregational Fairfield , 148 Beach Road, Fairfield, with glorious Klais pipe organ and Steinway grand piano and open chancel to accommodate our massed choir rehearsal and performance in a warm setting for cold winter. About our Guest Conductor:
Known for his engaging improvisations on hymns, submitted themes, silent films, scripture, poetry, and artwork, Tom Trenney became the first organist to be awarded First Prize and Audience Prize in the American Guild of Organists’ (AGO) National Competition in Organ Improvisation in 2006.
Tom has performed at Royce Hall (UCLA), the Schermerhorn Symphony Hall (Nashville), Benaroya Hall (Seattle), Ocean Grove Auditorium (New Jersey), Portland Municipal Auditorium (Maine), Spreckels Organ Pavilion (San Diego), and Verizon Hall at Kimmel Center (Philadelphia); and has served as organist and clinician at regional and national conventions of the American Guild of Organists, the Organ Historical Society, the Presbyterian Association of Musicians, the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians, National Association of Pastoral Musicians, the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts, and the Calvin Institute of Worship.
A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Eastman School of Music, Tom is grateful for his teachers and mentors, especially Anton Armstrong, David Davidson, David Higgs, Craig Hella Johnson, William Weinert, Anne Wilson, Todd Wilson, and Mister (Fred) Rogers.
