Pedal, Pipes, Pizza & Orgel Kids – Stratford United Methodist Church

This event is for children ages 8 and above who are currently taking music lessons and would like to learn about the organ. This is a fun event where everyone gets to learn about and play the TWO organs (bring your piano music!) Participants will get an opportunity to build a small pipe organ that we then can play!

On November xx, The Greater Bridgeport Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will be hosting “Pedals, Pipes, Pizza & Orgel Kids” at the Stratford United Methodist Church, 2600 Main St, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

RSVP to [Eventbrite Link] before Monday, November xx, 2023.

This event is for children ages 8 and above who are currently taking music lessons and would like to learn about the organ. This is a fun event where everyone gets to learn about and play the TWO organs (bring your piano music!) Participants will get an opportunity to build a small pipe organ that we then can play! Students also get an opportunity to play the church’s sanctuary organ too. Pizza lunch included – parents/guardians encouraged to stay and observe.

The Orgelkids organ is a mechanical, two rank pipe organ in a box. In the box are all the parts to build a real organ. Children can build this organ (with the help of our event organists). Different tasks are done in groups simultaneously: constructing the frame, sorting pipes, sorting keys. Then all the parts come together in the frame: the windchest, the bellows, keys and pipes. Then … play!

Workshop Leaders: Our Host Chris Muller, Director of Music for Stratford United Methodist Church, RoseAnne Homola, of Fairfield, and Paul Thoma, of Milford, CT

Registration questions: RoseAnne Homola | roseanneh123@gmail.com or 203-291-9746
